Another gp26 was launched in Argentina...
This boat is the first gp26 built with strip planking method. Designed by Aecio Cerchi and Héctor Longarela, who are actually working on deck fittings and appendages construction.
We hope to see this boat sailing and racing very soon...

GP 26 Class Rule Changes

Monday, 7 April 2008:
Since its launching, ORC was constantly monitoring development of the GP 26 class taking in account comments and requests from sailors, designers and boat builders always keeping on mind the original intention of the class of fast, sound and seaworthy boat. As a result, the following class rule changes have been agreed: GP 26 Class Rule Changes
GP26 Under Construction II: Van Munster Boats, designed by Fred Barrett
In 2007 a local Sydney yachtsman commissioned the design for a new class of
yacht in the range of 26 feet. This was at a time when the newly formulated GP26 rule just beginning to take off, particularly in South America. It was quickly decided that the new design should reflect the GP26 rule and indeed be the first commissioned and built GP26 in Australia. Two yachts are to be pulled from the tooling in the next couple of months and the build work has begun in earnest to have these two yacht sailing in the next Aussie Summer, with possible Geelong and Audi race weeks in mind.
The design will be sailed predominantly in Australia, along the Eastern seaboard and so the hull form needed to particularly strong on offshore conditions as well as being potent in the light to moderate breezes seen throughout the year.

GP26 Under Construction I: Brooks Dees (USA)

Brooks Dees designed, this gp26 is already being finished.
Actually they are working on deck fittings, hardware installation and other ultimate details for launching.
The estimated launch date is for April 08.

GP26, News from Uruguay...
These gp´s are the EVO II of "Basilisco II" and "MerK2", from Billoch & Asociados Yacht Design. Hull 3 and 4 are the evolution of hull´s 1 and 2.

Martin Billoch, well-known Argentina-based designer, sailor and the GP 26 ORC Class manager, expects to see six new GP 26’s racing in his waters by March and another six when the first GP 26 National Championship kicks off in November. He has just finished the Circuito Atlantico Sur Rolex Cup...

GP 26 Global Championship
Thursday, 06 December 2007:

The first GP 26 Global Championship will be held in Punta del Este, Uruguay on January 2009, after the Circuito Atlantico Sur Rolex Cup. The date will be confirmed and the notices of races will come available in a short time.




GP 26 Developments
Monday, 3 December 2007: It is with great enthusiasm that we can say that the GP 26 is on its way to success in South America. Right now there are now 7 boats in the water and 10 more being built, all around the globe. We are certain that we will have enough owners to be able to organize the first international Class meeting by the end of 2008.
Decision No2/07
Thursday, 25 October 2007: With reference to the following 203 GP Rule:
"The yacht shall have been designed and built either in accordance with the ABS Guide for Building and Classing Offshore Yachts or, when ultimately published, in accordance with ISO Standard 12215, Part 5 (hull) and Part 7 (rudders). The designer and the builder, respectively, shall confirm by signed written declarations that the design and build comply. The Owner shall be responsible for filing the declarations with the Rating Authority".
Tuesday, 06 October 2007: The International GP26 Association is pleased to announce that a preliminary calendar for the "GP26 CUP 2008" has now been established. As its name implies, this calendar is still subject to possible modifications.

"Basilisco II" wins Argentinean PHRF Nationals
Monday, 20 August 2007: "Basilisco II", the gp26 owned by Martin Billoch wins the Nationals PHRF 07. There was three days of regattas including fixed marks and Winward-Leward races.
After 6 regattas under different conditions and winds, the "Basilisco II" wins the Class A and the General of the event, with 85 inscripted.
Several boats under construction
Sunday, 12 August 2007: With 7 gp´s 26 already sailing on differents countries, and 8 more under construction, the class keeps her continuous growing. The 2008-09 looks very promising with the first GP26 World Championship on South American waters.
The first gp26 was built in Italy by Mauro Ugge Boatyard and launched on November 2006. But now, the class has strong footholds on South America, with 3 already launched and 4 more under construction. Other countries involved are United States, Greece, Chile, Brasil, and Russia with another 7 boats.
